Dr. R.N. Chatterjee
Dr. R.N. Chatterjee obtained M.V.Sc. Degree in Animal Genetics and Breeding from IVRI, Izatnagar and Doctoral degree from Veterinary college, Mathura campus, C.S. Azad University of Agriculture and Technology, Kanpur, India. He was honored with three National awards i.e. Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed award for the research for biennium 2002-03, ICAR Award for Team Research for the Biennium 2001-02 and Hari Om Ashram Trust ICAR award for the biennium 2010-11. He is fellow of National Academy of Veterinary Sciences. He also awarded with four society awards viz. best poster award in SOCDAB, 2004 and 2008, ISAGB, 2012 and IMSACON, 2013. Dr. Chatterjee has worked as Assistant Professor at Mathura Veterinary College from October 1992 to May 1999 and as Senior Scientist at CARI, Port Blair from May 1999 to April 2005. Thereafter, He worked as Principal Scientist from September, 2005 to December, 2010.
He has developed two varieties for Rural Poultry and was associated with improvement of pure lines of three rural poultry varieties. He has published 131 research articles in reputed National and International journals. He also published four books and six bulletins and registered 131 gene sequences in NCBI. He guided two Ph.D. and four M.Sc. students. He was deputed to GART, Zambia to advise the scientists and technical staff of GART for the development of Rural Poultry varieties and other aspects of Poultry related issues. He is also the Chairman for AP chapter of Indian Poultry Science Association (IPSA) and his research interests are in the area of poultry breeding and molecular genetics.
