TSP_INDUCTION OF IMPROVED CHICKEN FARMING

Induction of Improved Chicken Farming and Temporary night shelters in tribal villages under Tribal Sub Plan (TSP)

 

ICAR-Directorate of Poultry Research, Hyderabad introduced rural/ backyard chicken farming with improved chicken varieties with an aim to improve the income and living standards of tribal farmers under Tribal Sub-Plan Programme. Input distribution program was organized at Indervelly, Adilabad District on 29-05-2019. A total of 42 tribal farmers from different villages viz. Dodanda, Wadgaon, Sakari, Indervelly, Dehgaon, Gattepally, Utnoor, Wolvadi, Thummaguda, Koyalpandri, Muthnoor,Mankuguda, Jatharla, Kolamguda Dharthanpally, Medaguda were benefited. Most of them were women farmers and already undergone training on “Backyard Poultry Rearing” during 1-2 March 2019 at ICAR-DPR. This was an initiative of Government of India under the Tribal Sub Plan (TSP), in Aspirational District Program of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR). Team of Scientists and Officer of this Directorate interacted with tribal beneficiaries. Potential benefits of backyard farming with Vanaraja were explained to the tribal farmers. A total of 42 tribal beneficiaries were provided with 10 Vanaraja birds (6 weeks of age), 20kg feed, one feeder, one waterer per each beneficiary. As a new initiative for proper safeguarding of birds during night, Temporary night shelters were provided to all the beneficiaries.

Training to Scheduled Caste Farmers

Training to Scheduled Caste farmers of Ranga Reddy district under Schedule Caste Sub Plan (SCSP)

ICAR-Directorate of Poultry Research, Hyderabad organised one day training programme on “Backyard Poultry Rearing” to scheduled caste farmers under Schedule Caste Sub Plan (SCSP) on 13th March, 2019  at ICAR-DPR, Hyderabad with an aim to improve the income and living standards of the scheduled caste farmers. A total of 30 farmers from Gudur village of Ranga Reddy district participated in the programme. Dr.R.N.Chatterjee, Director, ICAR-DPR interacted with the farmers and highlighted the advantage of rearing improved backyard chicken varieties developed by this Directorate for improving the farmer’s income. The farmers had training on farm management including brooding management, broiler and layer management and backyard poultry farming. The farmers had also hands on training on feed preparation and feeding management. Farmers were provided with training kit. Pamphlets (in Telugu) on the backyard chicken varieties and their management were also distributed to the farmers. Farmers appreciated the training programme and thanked ICAR-DPR for arranging the programme.

   
   
 

ICAR-DPR FOUNDATION DAY

FOUNDATION DAY

32nd    Foundation Day of  ICAR-Directorate of Poultry Research was celebrated by the employees of this institute on 1st March 2019 in a grand manner. Dr. Ashok Kumar ADG (Animal Health), ICAR, New Delhi was the chief guest for this occasion. In the morning, Poultry exhibition was shown to the guests. In addition to it, research activities of different labs were explained to the chief guest. Further different facilities of the institute were also shown to him. The celebration started with the lighting of lamps and ICAR song. Director ICAR-DPR at the onset, welcomed chief guest, Directors of different ICAR institutes, tribal farmers, and school children from different schools. Children from different schools invited on this occasion exhibited scientific models on different themes. For this occasion, games were conducted for the employees of this institute. Achievements of the institute were deliberated by Dr. S.V. Rama Rao, Principal scientist, DPR. Presidential address was delivered by Dr. R.N. Chatterjee. Chief Guest, Dr. Ashok Kumar, applauded the achievements of the scientists of the institute. He emphasized on focused approach towards poultry research. His speech was motivating. Prizes were distributed to the winners of participants for games and sports. Program was coordinated by Dr. Anand Laxmi, Principal scientist DPR. The program ended with vote of thanks and national anthem.
