NATIONAL SCIENCE DAY
NATIONAL SCIENCE DAY ICAR-Directorate of Poultry Research, celebrated National Science Day, on 28th February 2019 to mark the discovery of the Raman effect by Indian physicist Sir C. V. Raman. A host of activities were organized. On this occasion Director Dr. R.N. Chatterjee, inaugurated poultry exhibition, exhibiting different aspects of scientific rearing of poultry. Poultry science exhibition inauguration was done in presence of invited guest speakers and school children from different schools. On this day students from different schools participated. They were explained about poultry rearing. School children had exhibited models on different scientific themes related to climatic change, cleanliness etc. Posters on scientist’s research activities were also displayed. A good interaction between the students and scientists of the institute took place. Guests from “Quality Thought” Company, Hyderabad were invited to deliver lecture, on the topics of Artificial Intelligence and its application in poultry rearing. At the end of the function, prizes and appreciation certificates were distributed to school students by the Director for exhibiting scientific models . The program as a whole was coordinated by Dr. Anand Laxmi, Principal scientist, DPR. Program ended with vote of thanks and national anthem.

TSP (March 2019)
Training on “Backyard Poultry Rearing” to tribal farmers of Adilabad districts under Tribal Sub Plan (TSP) ICAR-Directorate of Poultry Research, Hyderabad introduced rural/ backyard chicken farming with improved chicken varieties with an aim to improve the income and living standards of tribal farmers under Tribal Sub Plan Programme. To impart scientific knowledge on backyard poultry management to the tribal farmers, training on “Backyard Poultry Rearing” for tribal farmers was organized during 1-2 March 2019 at ICAR-DPR, Hyderabad. A total of 23 tribal farmers (20 women and 3 men farmers) from different parts of Utnoor block of Adilabad district participated in the programme. Dr.R.N.Chatterjee, Director, DPR interacted with the farmers. Tribal farmers participated in the Institute Foundation Day programme on 1st March 2019 and interacted with the chief guest Dr. Ashok Kumar, ADG(AH), ICAR. Tribal farmers had hands on training on farm management including nursery manage, grower and breeder management and backyard poultry rearing. Farmers were provided with training kit.
Trainin on Backyard Poultry Management
Training program on “Backyard Poultry Management” was conducted at ICAR-DPR Â A five days training program titled “Backyard Poultry Management” was organized by the ICAR- Directorate of Poultry Research in collaboration with MANAGE, Hyderabad from 19th to 23rd February 2019. In this training program 14 veterinary officers from animal husbandry departments of Manipur, Kerala, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Bihar, and Telangana states have participated. The training programme was aimed at the updating of knowledge and recent developments in the backyard poultry production system and its management. The participants were exposed to various aspects of poultry breeding, nutrition, management, health, farm and hatchery operations with special reference to backyard poultry production. Director, ICAR-DPR and representative from MANAGE have interacted with participants during inaugural and closing ceremonies and received the feedback from the trainees.
PM Kissan Samman Nidhi
Webcasting of inaugural programme of Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi by Hon'ble PM Webcasting of the Mann Ki Baat and Inaugural programme of Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi by Hon'ble Prime Minister of India on 24th February 2019 at 11.00 AM was screened live at ICAR-Directorate of Poultry Research, Hyderabad. Staff of this Directorate, about 23 poultry farmers and visitors participated and viewed the programme.
National Productivity Week
ICAR-DPR Celebrated National Productivity Week, 12-18 Feb 2019 National Productivity Week was celebrated at ICAR- Directorate of Poultry Research Rajendranagar Hyderabad from 12th Feb to 18th Feb, 2019 with a aim to generate productivity consciousness across the country. Inaugural function was conducted on 12/2/19 and Dr.R.N.Chatterjee, Director, DPR graced the occasion and highlighted the importance of the theme "Circular Economy for Productivity and Sustainability". Two experts, Dr. K. Alwal Reddy, M D (Layer Parent Production), Venkateshwara Hatcheries and Mr.Shravan Gattu, Senior Engineer, Viven Farms Pvt. Ltd., Hyderabad spoke on topics viz., Practical aspects of poultry production and on Usage of poultry waste respectively on the Inaugural function day. Different competitions were conducted throughout the week, like, essay, quiz and slogan competitions. Staff of the Institute participated actively. Prizes were distributed to the winners of the different competitions on valedictory day.
