On this day the following activities have been organised in the Insititute

1. Banners displayed at prominent places.

2. All the staff members took Swachhata pledge.

3. The employees of the institute also participated in plantation of trees inside the institute campus.

4. Staff of the Institute were briefed about the activities to be organised during the Swachhata Pakhwada

In regards to e-office implementation all the payment to staff and firms/agencies are being paid through online (FMS/PFMS) portal. The information of chicken verities developed, annual reports, newsletter and other related Institute activities were regularly posted on the Institute website.  All the staff carried out the cleanliness drive by cleaning and sweeping in the Institutes’ administrative building corridors and offices.  The weeding out/disposing of old and obsolete records/ furniture’s etc. takes place at regular interval in the office. Today also some old/obsolete records and trash materials were disposed off in the administrative offices in accordance with the rules.

Cleanliness drive was undertaken by the staff within campuses and it’s surrounding areas including outside the  ICAR-DPR. A cleanliness drive also was undertaken by the staff along with the family residing in the residential quarters. The residential families were encouraged for waste reduction, recycling and collection of biodegradable and non-biodegradable waste in separate bins for its proper management.  Apart from this the families were also motivated to keep their surrounding clean and attention on personal hygiene.

Cleanliness and sanitation drive was carried out by staff of ICAR-DPR in the Baoji Tanda village of Mahabubnagar district, Telangana, adopted by the Institute under the Mera Gaon Mera Gaurav programme. A program was organized in the Baoji Tanda village to educate people for proper management of waste generated in the village and to keep their surrounding clean.

Cleaning in the campus.Benefits of using kitchen wastes in kitchen garden were told to the residents of the colony.Utilization of waste paper for useful purpose like for the transportation of chicks.

The staff members of the institute actively participated in cleaning of sewerage & water lines inside the campus.Awareness program was conducted about waste water management, water harvesting for agriculture/ horticulture application/ kitchen gardens in residential colony.

The staff members of the institute actively participated in the rally which was taken in the public place outside the campus to spread awareness among the general public about the importance of swachhata in our surrounding areas.

The staff members of the institute actively participated in “Kisan Diwas” where farmers from village, Pajarla, Kuttur mandal, Telangana had come to our institute. The Kisan Diwas was celebrated in a big way where the farmers were given adequate knowledge about poultry rearing and other aspects related to it. Further, the farmers were told to keep their surroundings clean and green and also were told about its importance. Awareness was also spread among the visiting farmers about composting.

The staff members of the institute actively participated in Swachhta awareness program held at Kismatpur village, Hyderabad. He villagers were also told how to maintain personal hygiene. This village is a new village and has not been adopted by any of the institute sponsored programs.

The staff members of the institute actively participated in cleaning activities at one of the tourist places, Himayat Sagar Dam.  Awareness program was also conducted so that the vendors would minimize the use of plastics and other non-biodegradable wastes.

Quiz and essay competitions in the school, in relation to Swachhata activities, were conducted by our institute in Krishi High School, Rajendranagar, Hyderabad. Large number of students of standard VIII, IX and X participated in the competitions. The winners of both the competitions were suitably rewarded by the Director, ICAR-DPR. On this occasion, the Director stressed upon the cleanliness in the school premises as well as in the surroundings.

The staff members of the institute visited the residential colonies of the PJTSA University campus and actively participated in cleaning activity. The residents and particularly the children were told to keep the surroundings clean and also they were told to minimize the use of polythene bags. The housewives were told to dispose off the biodegradable and non-biodegradable wastes separately.

The staff members of the institute actively participated in cleaning activity conducted outside the campus in public place. This helped in spreading awareness about the importance of Swachhata among the general public.

The staff members of the institute visited the residential colonies of the PJTSA University campus and actively participated in cleaning activity. The residents and particularly the children were told to keep the surroundings clean and also they were told to minimize the use of polythene bags. The ladies were advised to dispose off the kitchen wastes in a pit so that they can make compost out of that.

A function was organized by inviting the Dean, Veterinary College, PJTSAU, Telangana. The Dean was the Chief Guest of today’s function. Before the function started, he participated in Swachhata activity inside the institute campus along with all other institute staff members. He emphasized the importance of cleanliness in everybody’s life and also appealed all to extend full support and co-operation for such a genuine initiative. During the function the activities conducted throughout Swachhata Pakhwada was narrated. On this occasion Director, DPR also deliberated his views and experience about Swacchata at national level.

A press meet was organized where press reporters came from Namaste Telangana. They asked about the activities conducted during Swachhata Pakhwada. I explained that under the able leadership of Dr. R. N. Chatterjee, Director, ICAR-DPR, the staff members of the institute actively participated in many activities like spreading awareness among the villagers and school students about cleanliness by organizing quiz and essay competitions, explained the benefits of compost pits by utilizing kitchen wastes. We have organized Kisan Diwas on 23rd December, 2018 where we invited farmers from village Pinjerla, Kuttur Mandal and shared our knowledge about Swachhata, compost preparation, minimizing the use of plastics etc. We have taken their views also on Swachhata. The institute staff also visited tourist spot, Himayat Sagar dam and cleaned the area. We went to different residential colonies of our institute as well as Agricultural University and sensitized the residents for disposing off the bio-degradable and bio- nondegradable wastes. Besides this our staff also took active part in digitalization of office records and also adopted online procedures for the purchase of items required by the institute. For maintaining clean and green environment, we conducted plantation programs also. We have given a note on the activities conducted which is to be published in the daily news paper, Namaste Telangana for wide publicity. Photographs taken during Pakhwada have also been given to the reporter for publication. 

  
 

World Soil Health Day 2018

“World Soil Health Day" celebration at ICAR-DPR on 05th December 2018

All the staff of ICAR-DPR actively participated in the "World Soil Health Day" celebrations on 5th December, 2018. Director of the institute, Dr. R. N. Chatterjee deliberated on the importance and significance of Soil Health and also emphasized on spreading awareness among the farmers during staff visits to different villages during MGMG and TSP program. All the staff members participated in the program. Further, Director along with the staff members took part in plantation program in the DPR campus and also participated in a rally in public place to spread awareness about soil health among the general public.

ICAR-Directorate of Poultry Research Organized Training Programme  on “Modern Poultry Management for Established Agripreneurs"  during 24 -27 November, 2018

Training programme on "Modern Poultry Management for Established Agripreneurs" organized at ICAR-DPR, Hyderabad during 24-27 Nov, 2018. A total of 29 Agripreneurs participated in the training coordinated by Dr. D.Suchitra Sena and team.  All modern practices of breeding, nutrition, health and overall farm management were covered. Hands on sessions on farm management including nursery management, grower and breeder management were conducted. Field visit was organized to commercial layer farm. As part of modern poultry management, two lectures related to the organic poultry production and designer eggs and meat were also delivered. Dr.R.N.Chatterjee, Director, DPR interacted with the participants and expressed need for arranging more number of trainings in the poultry and other allied fields for the benefit of the different stake holders for doubling farmers income. The training programme was successful and the feedback showed an overall rating of 4.5 on a 5 point scale.

Improved Chicken Farming in tribal village (Dharmaji pet -Kolamguda) in Aspirational Districts Programme under Tribal Sub Plan (TSP)

ICAR-Directorate of Poultry Research, Hyderabad introduced rural/ backyard chicken farming with improved chicken variety, Vanaraja, with an aim to improve the income and living standards of tribal farmers under Tribal Sub Plan Programme. Input distribution program was organized at Kolamguda- Dharmaji pet village of Utnoor Tehsil, Adilabad District on 09-11-2018. This was an initiative of Government of India under the Tribal Sub Plan (TSP), in Aspirational District Programme of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR). Team of Scientists and Officer of this Directorate interacted with tribal beneficiaries. Benefits of backyard farming with Vanaraja and its management practices under free range backyard system were explained to the tribal farmers. A total of 45 tribal beneficiaries were provided with 10 Vanaraja birds, 15kg feed, one feeder, one waterer and medicine kit per each beneficiary.

CLA TRAINING

ICAR-Directorate of Poultry Research Organized “Certified Livestock Advisor Program on Poultry” training Programme for Animal Husbandry Officers during 22 October – 5 November 2018

ICAR-Directorate of Poultry Research, Hyderabad organized a Training Programme on “Certified Livestock Advisor Program on Poultry (Module – II)” during 22 October – 5 November 2018, in collaboration with  MANAGE, Hyderabad, sponsored by Govt. of India. A total of 13 Animal Husbandry officers from 8 states attended the programme. The trainees were exposed to various aspects of poultry production such as breeding, nutrition, management and health care. The training module included theory, practical demonstrations and hands on experience on farm and hatchery operations. Hands on sessions on farm management including nursery management, grower and breeder management were conducted. The veterinary officers were trained on artificial insemination technology and practically carried out the AI. Apart from the Faculty members of Institute, Industry experts Dr. N.K.Praharaj of Srinivasa Group, Dr.H.R.Krishna Rao from Venkateshwara Hatcheries, Dr.S.Ravinder Reddy from R.R Labs and  Dr.S.K.Maine delivered lectures and provided inputs in commercial poultry farming. Field visits were organized to poultry processing plant of Srinivasa Hatcheries group, 2.5 lakh commercial layer farm, 12000 per batch capacity commercial broiler farm, feed mill and free range poultry of Bavoji Tanda, Mahaboobnagar district, Telangana (an adopted tribal village of ICAR-DPR).  Visits to Veterinary college Poultry farm, NRC on Meat, Hyderabad  and MANAGE, Hyderabad were also arranged for the benefit of the participants.  The participants expressed satisfaction on the module of the training.  Smt Usha Rani, IAS, DG, MANAGE and Dr.R.N.Chatterjee, Director DPR interacted with the participants and expressed need for arranging more number of trainings in the poultry and other allied fields for the benefit of the different stake holders for doubling farmers income.
