TSP at Heerapur-Adilabad

Hon’ble Member of Parliament (Loksabha) Shri Soyam Bapu Rao participated in TSP program organized by ICAR-DPR, Hyderabad at Heerapur village, Adilabad, Telangana

ICAR-Directorate of Poultry Research (DPR), Rajendranagar, Hyderabad organized Backyard poultry distribution programme at Heerapur village of Adilabad district of Telangana under Development Action Plan for Scheduled Tribes (TSP) on 24th December, 2021. Seventy-six farmers were given poultry birds, night shelter, feeder, waterer and medicine kit. The farmers were given on farm demonstration and training on scientific rearing of poultry. They were also appraised about the additional benefits of rearing the improved chicken varieties like Vanaraja, Gramapriya and Srinidhi before the input distribution.  

Hon’ble Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha) Shri Soyam Babu Rao participated in the program as Chief Guest. He highlighted the importance of poultry and livestock sector in making the agriculture profitable. He narrated the vision of Prime Minster in doubling the farm income  and role of poultry towards achieving the goal. He appreciated the efforts of ICAR-DPR, Hyderabad in popularizing the backyard poultry in Tribal district of Adilabad and urged the Director to cover more number of villages in future. Dr. R N Chatterjee, Director, ICAR-DPR presided the programme and emphasized the role of ICAR-DPR in livelihood and income generation through backyard poultry in the country. Dr U Rajkumar, Pr Scientist & In charge, TSP programme explained about the objective and implementation of the TSP program in Adilabad district. Sarpanch, MPTC of Heerapur village, other representatives of local bodies from Indravelli Mandal, officials from ITDA, Utnoor and Dr. S.V. Ramarao, Pr. Scientist, Dr. M.V.L.N. Raju, Pr. Scientist, Dr. S. Jayakumar, Sr. Scientist and Dr. Vijayakumar, Sr. Scientist from ICAR-DPR, Hyderabad participated in the program. Dr B Prakash, Pr Scientist, ICAR-DPR, Hyderabd proposed vote of thanks.

Rastriya Kisan Diwas

ICAR- DPR celebrated Rastriya Kisan Diwas

ICAR-DPR celebrated Rastriya Kisan Diwas inviting women farmers from villages nearby the Rajendra Nagar Mandal on 23.12.2021. A total of 15 women farmers and agri-enterpreneurs participated in the programme. Dr. R.N. Chatterjee, Director of the Directorate addressed the farmers and encouraged them to go for sustainable agriculture including the livestock component. He emphasised that women should come forward to form self-help groups and start-ups in livestock sector especially the poultry sector. He suggested that rural poultry farming with improved chicken varieties will yield very good results and help to eliminate malnutrition. A training programme was also organized by Dr. AnandLaxmi, Principal Scientist of this Directorate for the Women farmers. The farmers were shown the different activities of the farm related to breeding, nutrition, health and management. The farmers were distributed seed packets of various vegetable plants for growing in their kitchen garden. The farmers participated with lot of zeal and enthusiasm in the event. The programme was coordinated by Dr. K.S. Rajaravindra, Sr. Sci. and Nodal officer, Swachh Bharat Committee of the Directorate.

Swachhta Pakhwada 16-31 December 2021

   Swachhta Pakhwada Program (16-31 December 2021)

Swachtha Pakhwada was started at ICAR-Directorate on Poultry Research on 16th December 2021.  A fortnightly long activity on Swachtha organized from  16 to 31st December 2021. 

16-12-2021

On Day 1(16.12.2021), the Director and staff of the directorate participated actively in reading the Swachtha pledge. The various activities to be conducted during the fortnight from 16.12.2021 to 31.12.2021 were briefed by Dr. K.S. Rajaravindra, Senior Scientist and Nodal Officer, Swachh Bharat Committee. Later tree plantation drive was organized near the old farm campus where fruit bearing saplings were planted by the Director and the staff.

On Day 2(17.12.2021), the Director and staff of the directorate participated in cleaning the corridors and building premises. The Administration and the Accounts Section conducted cleanliness drive and weeded off old files, obsolete and junk materials. Various office records were digitalized and e-office was implemented.

PM’S Program on Natural Farming

Live streaming of Hon’ble PM’S Program on Natural Farming at ICAR-DPR

Live streaming of Hon’ble PM’S Program on National Conference on “Natural Farming (Zero Budget Natural Farming)" during Pre- Vibrant Gujarat Summit 2021 was web telecasted at ICAR-Directorate of Poultry Research, Hyderabad and Regional Centre, Bhubaneswar on 16th December 2021. The staff of this directorate participated in the program. Information on this important event was posted on institute Twitter and Facebook pages for wider publicity and coverage.

The Directorate also organized the live streaming program in MGMG adopted village and a total of 75 farmers of Bavoji Tanda, a tribal village of Balanagar (Mandal), Mahabubnagar (Dist) were participated and viewed the Hon’ble PM’S Program on Natural Farming. Scientist- Farmer interaction was organized and farmers were explained about the role of backyard poultry and its importance in natural farming. The concept of poultry waste management and the advantages of making compost and vermicompost out of poultry litter was explained to the farmers. The farmers were briefed about the benefits of organic farming and the conversion of Waste into Wealth. The importance of using toilets in combating several food and water-borne diseases was explained. The need for the segregation of waste into recyclable and non-recyclable is also emphasized for the protection of the environment.

Health management of birds was explained and birds were vaccinated with ND Lasota vaccine. Vitamin supplements were also provided. Information on the nutritional benefits of eggs was explained and boiled eggs were distributed to the farmers. Farmers were also provided with Vermipoul, vermicompost, developed at the institute from poultry litter.  A team of scientists comprising Drs. M.R. Reddy, R.K. Mahapatra, T. K. Bhattacharya, L. Leslie Leo Prince, B. Prakash and S. Jayakumar (Coordinator) participated in the program and elaborated on the various activities of the Directorate and the importance of the MGMG program in the village.

World Soil Day- 2021

ICAR-DPR celebrates World Soil Day- 2021

The World Soil Day- 2021 was celebrated at ICAR-Directorate of Poultry Research, Hyderabad on 05.12.2021. Dr. R.N. Chatterjee, Director and staff of the Directorate participated in the programme. Fifteen fruit bearing plants were planted in the Moringa integrated farm unit of the Directorate. The Soil was made more fertile by adding the vermicompost before plantation. Vermicompost was also applied to already planted 58 samplings in the Directorate to enhance the soil quality and improve the growth of saplings. The programme was coordinated and organized by Drs. K.S. Rajaravindra & Vijaykumar, Senior Scientists of the Directorate.
