Farmers exposure visit organized on the occasion of Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav

A week long awareness program to the farmers on Good Management Practices in Poultry Production was organized during 22-28th November, 2021 as part of our Celebration of India at 75 Years: Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav at ICAR-DPR, Hyderabad. About 25 Farmers from the Nagireddy Guda village (Moinabad Mandal) visited the institute and participated in the exhibition. Dr. R.N. Chatterjee, Director addressed the farmers and explained the role of backyard poultry. During the exhibition, different rural varieties and native breeds of chicken were displayed to the farmers. They were provided with the knowledge of Good Management Practices for proper management of the birds. The farmers were also exposed to backyard poultry farming with Moringa and the benefits of integrated farming with the feeding of Moringa leaves and earthworms to chicken were explained. Farmers were given hands-on training on vermicomposting. This program was coordinated by Dr. R.K. Mahapatra, Principal Scientist and Dr. Vijay Kumar, Sr. Scientist of this Directorate.

MGMG Program

MGMG programme organised at Khandu Tanda, Balanagar Mandal

A bird distribution programme was organised under the Mera Goan Mera Gaurav programme (MGMG) of the Directorate at the Khandu Tanda Village, Balanagar Mandal, Mahaboobnagar Dist., Telangana on 02.11.2021. A team of scientists comprising of Drs. Anand Laxmi, Shyam Sunder Paul, Suchitra Sena and K.S. Rajaravindra participated in the programme and elaborated about the various activities of the Directorate and the importance of MGMG programme in the village. Improved chicken varieties were distributed to 25 tribal families for nutritional security and livelihood improvement. The farmers were explained about the role of the Directorate in adopting their village and different developmental activities that will be taken up in that village. The villagers were also explained about the different packages of practices to be adopted for backyard rearing of the improved chicken varieties. The programme was coordinated by Dr. K.S. Rajaravindra, Senior Scientist of this Directorate.

DAPSC input distribution programme, AP

Input distribution to SC beneficiaries of Malpuru Village (AP) under DAPSC Programme

A programme was organized by the Directorate under the Development Action Plan for Schedule Castes (DAPSC) scheme at Mulpuru Village (Amruthalur Mandal, Guntur Dist) Andhra Pradesh on 30th October 2021. Under this programme, a total of 650 birds of improved chicken variety, 500 kg feed, 100 waterers and 100 feeders were distributed to 100 SC farmers to supplement the night shelters provided to these farmers a few months ago. The farmers were elaborated on the role of backyard poultry in alleviating malnutrition in children, elderly people and pregnant women. The programme was attended by Dr. L. Leslie Leo Prince and Dr.Shanmugam, M, of the Directorate and Dr.P.Deepthi, Veterinary Assistant Surgeon, Veterinary Dispensary, Mulpuru. The farmers were informed about the benefits of rearing improved rural chicken varieties for sustainable livelihoods and nutritional security. The importance of swachtha in the day to day activities is also emphasized to the farmers for overall wellbeing. The programme was coordinated by Dr. K.S.Rajaravindra of this Directorate.

Interface meeting with farmers

Interface Meeting with farmers organized at Mulpur village (Andhra Pradesh)

An interface meeting of multidisciplinary scientists, State Animal Husbandry officials, local representatives and farmers was organized at Mulpuru village, Amruthalur Mandal, Guntur district, Andhra Pradesh on 30th October 2021 as part of our Celebration of India at 75 Years: Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav. The scientist team comprised of Dr.Shanmugam, M, Dr.K.S.Rajaravindra and Dr.L.L.L.Prince of the Directorate, Dr.P.Deepthi, Veterinary Assistant Surgeon, Veterinary Dispensary, Mulpuru and Sarpanch of the village were coordinated the meeting. Information on rural improved chicken varieties and their benefits and scientific rearing to obtain maximum benefit from the birds were explained to the farmers. Thirty farmers attended the meeting where issues related to poultry rearing were discussed and appropriate solutions were provided for better rearing of the birds. The program was coordinated by Dr. Shanmugam, M of this Directorate.

Refresher Training Programme (RTP) on Poultry Management

Refresher Training Programme (RTP) on Poultry Management organized during 28 -30 October,  2021

ICAR-Directorate of Poultry Research (DPR), Hyderabad organized a Refresher Training Programme (RTP) on Poultry Management from 28-30, October 2021 for Established Agripreneurs under AC&ABC Scheme using an online platform in collaboration with MANAGE, Hyderabad. About 30 participants from different parts of the country participated in the training. Different topics related to hatchery management, chick, brooder, grower and adult management, health management of the poultry flocks, feed formulation, economics of the poultry rearing were covered.
