Special Swachtha Campaign (Mahatma Gandhiji’s Birth Anniversary)
A special Swachtha Campaign was started at ICAR-Directorate on Poultry Research on 2nd October 2021 on the occasion of the 152nd Birth Anniversary of the Shri. Mahatma Gandhiji, the Father of our Nation. A month long activity on Swachtha will be organised from 02nd to 31st October 2021.

In the Swachtha programme, the Director and staff participated actively and cleaned the premises near the guest house. The single use plastics were collected and disposed off in a proper manner. The tree leaves were segregated and sent for composting. The Director also planted fruit bearing trees to enhance the greenery surrounding the guest house. Dr. K.S. Rajaravindra, Senior Scientist & Nodal Officer, Swachh Bharat Committee organized the programme.

A special Swachtha Campaign was organized on 05.10.2021 in the premises of Government primary school of the Bandlaguda Jagir, Gandipet Mandal of RangaReddy district, Telangana. The staff of the directorate and the school actively participated in the Swachtha activity and cleaned the premises. The students were also given awareness about the open defection free status in the villages under the Swachtha programme. The importance of using toilets in combating several food and water borne diseases are explained to the school children. The need for segregation of waste into recyclable and non-recyclable is also emphasised for protection of the environment.

A special National Swachtha Campaign was organized on 12.10.2021 at Kothur Village (Mahbubnagar district, Telangana). The staff of the directorate, the Sarpanch of the village, about 70 villagers and the school students were participated in the Swachtha activity and cleaned the common area & road. Dr Rajkumar highlighted about the open defection free status in the villages, importance of using toilets in combating several food and water borne diseases. He also explained about waste to wealth creation ideas and need for segregation of waste into recyclable and non-recyclable materials for protection of the environment. Dr Prakash expressed thanks to all the villagers assembled for the progrmme along with elected members of the village. Dr.Vijaykumar coordinated the program.

ICAR- Directorate of Poultry Research, Hyderabad celebrated Mahila Kisan Divas in the campus on 15th October, 2021. In this programme around 30 women participated. Dr. SP Yadav, Principal Scientist welcomed the participants and highlighted the importance of Mahila Kisan Divas. The Incharge Director Dr BLN Reddy during his address highlighted the role of the farm women in Indian agriculture. He also motivated the women to adopt the improved technologies for enhancing their farm income. Dr Anand laxmi, Principal Scientist of this Directorate emphasised on the importance of the women in agriculture and animal husbandry. The women including the scientific staff of the Institute actively participated in the programme and expressed their views.

As a part of World Food Day Celebration on 16 October 2021, a lecture on "Alleviating food security through inclusive nutritional merits: A case of Millets" was delivered by Dr B Dayakar Rao, Pr Scientist and CEO, Technology Business Incubator (Nutrihub), ICAR-IIMR,Hyderabad. He has given insight about food security, challenges in achieving it, Impact of climate on agriculture, malnutrition, balanced diet, etc. He also gave an insight about the Global hunger index, zero hunger and the ways to achieve zero hunger. He also emphasized the importance of nutrition for our kids. He pointed out the inadequate nutrition and health status of Indians even when we are having food surplus as well as a major exporter. He also suggested millets to be important food grains in alleviating the hidden hunger of the people as well in alleviating the diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, cancer, etc. A total of 30 people joined in the zoom meeting of the webinar and appreciated the program. Dr MVLN Raju, Pr. Scientist, ICAR-DPR appreciated the talk and Dr Jayakumar S delivered the vote of thanks for the program.
A special National Swachtha Campaign was organized on 22.10.2021 at ICAR-DPR Hyderabad Campus. DDG (AS) ICAR, Dr B N Tripathi was the chief guest of the event and other dignitaries were Dr A K Tyagi, ADG ICAR; Dr P Malik, Animal Husbandry Commissioner, Government of India; Dr R N Chatterjee, Director ICAR-DPR Hyderabad and Dr S B Barbuddhe, Director ICAR-NRC Meat. They were participated in plantation work at campus along with staff of ICAR-DPR and ICAR- NRC Meat. A total of about 40 persons participated in the event.
