SC Subplan: Input distribution programme at Chinchelpet village on 01-11-2019

Adapting rural/ backyard poultry farming in rural households can ensure the availability of eggs and meat in rural and underdeveloped areas which will help in the alleviating the incidence of protein deficiency in susceptible groups and provide additional income.  Under the SC Subplan, this Directorate organized an awareness cum input distribution programme on “Backyard poultry farming” at Chinchelpet Village, Vikarabad district, Telangana on 01-11-2019. A total of 46 farmers were provided inputs during the programme. These SC beneficiaries had already undergone training on “Backyard Poultry Rearing” on 25th October 2019 at ICAR-DPR. Each beneficiary was provided with 18-20 Vanaraja birds (5 weeks of age), 25kg feed, one feeder, one waterer per. A total of 880 Vanaraja birds, 1100kg feed, 46 feeders, 46  waterers and medicine kits were distributed. In the programme, sarpanch and other panchayat officials of the village participated and appreciated the efforts of DPR in improving nutrition and livelihood security of the poor SC families. Detailed inputs for rearing the birds under village conditions along with relevant literature in Telugu were provided to the beneficiaries. The programme was coordinated by Dr A.Kannan, Sh.D.Pratap and Sh. Venkataiah of the Directorate.
