Training on “Backyard Poultry Rearing” to tribal farmers of Adilabad districts under Tribal Sub Plan (TSP)

ICAR-Directorate of Poultry Research, Hyderabad introduced rural/ backyard chicken farming with improved chicken varieties i.e., Vanaraja, Gramapriya and Srinidhi with an aim to improve the income and living standards of tribal farmers under Tribal Sub Plan Programme.To impart scientific knowledge on backyard poultry management to the tribal farmers, training on “Backyard Poultry Rearing” was organized during 4-5 February 2019 at ICAR-DPR, Hyderabad. A total of 17 tribal farmers from different parts of Adilabad district participated in the programme. Dr.R.N.Chatterjee, Director, DPR interacted with the farmers and highlighted the advantage of rearing improved backyard chicken varieties developed by this Directorate towards doubling the farmer’s income. Tribal farmers had hands on training on farm management including nursery manage, grower and breeder management and backyard poultry rearing. Farmers were provided with training kit. Tribal farmers visited Poultry farm and Dairy farm of Veterinary College, Rajendranagar.
